There’s a new Nancy Drew series in development. The CW have teamed up with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage to bring the teen detective to the small screen.

Nancy Drew is getting another shot at making it to series. Though two have failed to secure an episode order in the last three years, including one at NBC starring Sarah Shahi, perhaps this latest — which will return to Nancy Drew’s roots — might finally emerge triumphant.

As written by Noga Landau (The Magicians), this latest iteration will focus on an 18-year-old Drew the summer following her high school graduation.

According to Deadline, “Nancy thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, she uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.”

Landau will executive produce the series, alongside Schwartz and Savage. Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski is also a co-executive producer.

Shwartz and Savage have had some recent success in the teen drama sphere with their Runaways adaptation on Hulu. The duo are also responsible for the Dynasty reboot on The CW, which is heading into its second season, as well as the long-running hit Gossip Girl. A limited-series adaptation of John Green’s Looking for Alaska is also in their hands.
